The 18th Century Drawing Room, Commissions

Furnished with rich mahogany pieces and a grand fireplace, the 18th century drawing room's paintings are what actually capture the viewer's attention within the model. While some paintings are clippings that Mrs. Fisher framed or bought, there is one within this room that she commissioned from a local Wilkes Barre artist, Niccolo Cortiglia. This piece of the Dollhouse’s history shows us how Fisher commissioned other artists, giving them the means to continue producing art that may not be readily accessible: miniature portraits!

Cortiglia created an oil painting of a young woman dressed in a blue gown and bonnet that hangs above the fireplace mantel.
