The Antique Shop, Inspiration

That thrill of a new find can be seen in the reception of Mrs. Fisher's miniature antique shop!

People seemed taken by the fact that there was always something more to grab within the cluttered space, then and now. Fisher's hand captured the realism in every corner of the tiny room, from items such as yoke tea canisters to the structure itself, with its life-like ceiling rafters. This room ensured the spirit of the trade was captured within.

While playing our own treasure hunt in researching Mrs. Fisher's antique shop, we found many historical period pieces that give the room its character:

Mrs. Fisher's countless hours of research and crafting is a testament to this American burgeoning interest in antiques and replicas of the past from the late 1940s through the 1950s.  People enjoyed the detail within her miniatures because they provided the public with an understanding of past cultures right down to the smallest component.

Speaking of crafting, now let us head to the Colonial Bedroom to see some pure craftmanship!
