Description

These are copy printed letters between Eugene S. Farley, 1899-1973, and Admiral Harold Raynsford Stark, 1880-1972, discussing the involvement of Bucknell University Junior College (later to become Wilkes University) in the war effort on the dates of April 8 and 11 1942. The first letter from Farley to Stark informs the latter of the conditions of the university in wartime, attesting to the students’ drive and dedication in both academics and defense courses. The second letter is Stark’s response to Farley, noting his appreciation of the news and his intent to share it with others as a sign of inspiration from the young men and women at home.
