Description
The paintings of Wade Schuman, distinguised by observational skill, technical mastery, and recognizable subject matter is, however, less about Realism and more about Illusion. What is at the issue in his painting is not how depictions are madeto convey the look of the subject, but rather how recognition---the most basic relation we have to the world---functions in a distinctive way within the painting.
