THOMAS HR¥NKIW, brilliant young pianist, was

graduated from Wilkes College in June, 1963. He
is a student of Ann Liva, of the Wilkes College
Music faculty. On full scholarship, this talented
young musician has participated in many outstand~
ing concerts.

During the 1962~63 season he appeared in com
Cert, among others, with the Niagara Falls Philhar~
monic, perfoiming the Cesar Franck Symphonic
Variations, and the Mendelssohn Cap".ccz.o Brz./~
f!.anfe op. 22, with Ferdinand Liva conducting. In
Tune he pe££oT"ed GeTshw±n's Rhapsody in Blue
with the Binghamton Philharmonic, Fritz Wallen~
berg conducting. Climaxing four years of intensive
musical training at Wilkes College he then performed the Tschaikovsky P{.ario Coricerfo I.ri Bb m!.nor
with the Sc~ranton Philharmonic Orchestra, under the
baton of Leopold Stokowski. Previously, he appeared
with the Wilkes~Barre Philharmonic Orchestra; Day~
ton Symphony; Erie Philharmonic; Northeastern
Ballet Festival Symphony, and Young Musicians
Symphonette, of which he is assistant conductor.
Mr. Hrynkiw made his debut as a conductor with
the Symphonette in April,1963, when he conducted
the Schubert Sgmphong #8 I.n Bb m!.nor. He also

plays violin and viola, and is a member of the Wilkes~
Barre Philharmonic, and the Young Musicians' Sym~
phonette.

During his four years at Wilkes he was very
active in musical events, participating in the Mixed
Chorus, Male Chorus, Woodwind Ensemble; serving as accompanist on recital programs, and as soloist, performing a full program on the College Assem~
bly Series. In the 1962~63 Collegiate Division of the
National Music Teachers Competition he won the
District, State and Eastern Divisional Competition.

In Wilkes~Barre he was soloist and accompam
ist for the Apollo Club, the Concordia Singing
SocietyS and the Wilkes~Barre Ballet Guild, of
which he was also musical director. He has appeared
as accompanist with leading ballet companies in the
East, with many performances in New York City
and Philadelphia.
He has been accepted into the master class of
Robert Goldsand at the Manhattan School of Music
in New York City, where he will be on scholarship.
He is accompanist for the Schola Cantorum directed
by Hugh Ross.
